All,
What is revealed in the following video below documenting the 2026 edition of the annual Palestine Festival of Literature (PalFest) is three of the most profound, important, and deeply necessary and dynamic voices in the now viscerally influential and meaningful global struggle against the massive organized forces of Zionism and its ongoing impact on the political economies, culture(s) and ideological contexts of settler colonialism, state violence, and apartheid in Palestine and Israel (and the larger heavily interrelated global imperialist projects emanating from North, South, and Central America as well as Europe, Asia, and the larger various ‘Middle Eastern’ territories and nation-states).
What emerges from this intensive, powerful, extremely informative and eloquent conversation is a fascinating and deeply challenging discourse about how and why the historical dimensions of these struggles are intimately connected to and thus are an inextricable part of precisely where the entire world is now going in the 21st century as we seek to make both individual and collective sense of this trajectory. Thus to say that this discussion and the voices that it represents and encompasses is both inspiring and liberating in a very distinctive and compelling manner is to understand and appreciate why real moral courage, deeply ethical commitment, and genuine painstaking engagement both in the world as it is and can be is what makes this interaction between Baconi, Malik, and Coates so valuable and important at this very moment and well beyond. Please enjoy and share its contents with as many human beings, communities and interested organizations as you can.
Love & Struggle,
Kofi

Ta-Nehisi Coates, Tareq Baconi and Nesrine Malik discuss the struggle for justice in Palestine, its global ramifications, and strategies for decolonisation in the 21st century. The Palestine Festival of Literature hosted this landmark conversation at London's Southbank Centre as part of the London Literature Festival 2026. Tareq Baconi is one of the foremost Palestinian intellectuals of his generation and we were honoured to be launching his new book What Now: On Palestine, Freedom, and Our Global Future.
The London Literature Festival is presented in cooperation with Service95 and Dua Lipa
