Would ANY of this have occurred if the US had NOT removed the elected premier of Iran in 1953? The blowback from US interference in the region has been unending - a history most Americans don't know a thing about. It is astounding how many people have died, how much destruction has occurred as a direct result of US interference in the region. What exactly has the US gained for the lives lost and fortune squandered? Left alone, Iran would have become a westernized secular state. Saddam Hussein might never have come to power in Iraq No Iran-Iraq war No invasion of Kuwait No Gulf Wars No 9/11 No US in Afghanistan No US in Iraq A stable secular Syria Without the US/Shah alliance would the Soviets have invaded Afghanistan? How can anyone justify US interference in the region over the last 75 years?
